Warm Colors & Sea Breezes in Kennebunkport
As the air cools and the smells begin to change, locals and visitors alike embrace the Fall in Kennebunkport Maine. With uncluttered streets and empty parking spaces we leave the hustle and bustle of the hot summer months in the rear view mirror and fill with excitement for what’s to come. Crisp air, bright colors and familiar flavors welcome us back to a time of year when the days cool down, the food warms up and we settle in for a cozier time of year.
Fall in the Kennebunks is a wonderland of activities and experiences. The season officially kicks off with the Kennebunkport Harvest Festival on October 1st with a pancake breakfast, pumpkin carving, hayrides and more. Bring the kids or make it a date with someone you love. It’s a Fall filled day of memories just waiting to be had. The parade is another annual ritual for the town. It will take place at 11:30 AM, starting at Water Street, turn onto Dane Street, and finish at Park Street, where participants can loop back around to Main street for the festivities. Children are invited to join in the parade by dressing up in their favorite costumes and wave to the spectators. Parents are welcome to accompany their children and you don’t have to be a Kennebunk resident to participate. The parade lineup is at 11:15 AM on Water Street.
Get Lost! Well, sort of. Just down the road is The Great Corn Maze at Zach’s Farm in York. Great for a day of family fun or just wandering through a field aimlessly with the one you love, or like, or actually want to lose, or whatever. A twenty minute hayride in their freshly rebuilt carts delivers you and yours to the maze where the expedition begins. Not up for exploring? No problem. Zach’s also offers “pick your own” pumpkin fields. Remember to wear your hiking shoes so you can play around the farm!
